In response to a motion moved by Pujut Assembly man Ting Tiong Choon, Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd (CMS) says that it is incorrect to say the company has a monopoly over the production and sale of cement in Sarawak, Malaysia. This week, Malaysia-based Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad (CMS) reported FY17 revenues up four per cent at MYR11.16bn (US$415.7m). Revenues improved with the first full year operation of the company's 1Mta grinding section, which has converted its clinker plant at Mambong, outside Kuching, to an integrated works. CMS records 4% increase in revenue for 2017

Malaysia-based Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad (CMS) has released its results for the full-year 2017 period, recording a 4 per cent YoY increase in revenue to MYR1.61bn (US$415.67m) from MYR1.55bn. The group also announced a 26 per cent rise in profit after tax and non-controlling interests (PACNI), to MYR213.21m from MYR169.18m. Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad (CMSB) has announced its earnings figures for the first half of 2016, including those of its cement division. This recorded a pretax profit of MYR41.7m (US$10.2m) on revenues of MYR275m. Both figures were down on those from the same period in 2015, with profits falling by 24 per cent and revenues 6.6 per cent lower. Caha Mata Sarawak Bhd (CMS) reported a total revenue of MYR491m (US$132.3m) for the first quarter of 2015, an increase of 32 per cent from MYR373.24m a year earlier. Pretax profit of MYR95.01m in 1Q15 was 44 per cent up on the MYR66.19m in 1Q14. Profit after tax and non-controlling interests increased by 48 per cent to MYR57.42m from MYR38.9m in 1Q14.
